United Power Generation & Distribution Company Ltd. engages in the generation and distribution of electricity and steam in Bangladesh. The company operates an 82-megawatt (MW) gas fired power plant in Dhaka export processing zone (DEPZ); a 72 MW gas fired power plant in the Chattogram export processing zone (CEPZ); a 53 MW power plant at Ashuganj; a 300 MW power plant at Anwara, Chittagong; a 195 MW power plant at Ashuganj, Brahmanbaria; a 115 MW power plant in Jamalpur; and a 28 MW power plant at Sylhet. It sells its electricity to export processing industries located in the DEPZ and CEPZ, as well as to Dhaka PBS-1 of Bangladesh Rural Electrification Board, Bangladesh Power Development Board, Karnaphuli export processing zone, and other private sector companies. The company was formerly known as Malancha Holdings Limited and changed its name to United Power Generation & Distribution Company Ltd. in October 2009. The company was incorporated in 2007 and is based in Dhaka, Bangladesh. United Power Generation & Distribution Company Ltd. operates as a subsidiary of United Mymensingh Power Ltd.
