Whilst it may not be a huge deal, we thought it was good to see that the IXUP Limited (ASX:IXU) Non-Executive Chairman & Member of the Advisory Board, Julian Babarczy, recently bought AU$85k worth of stock, for AU$0.015 per share. That purchase might not be huge but it did increase their holding by 25%.

The Last 12 Months Of Insider Transactions At IXUP

Notably, that recent purchase by Julian Babarczy is the biggest insider purchase of IXUP shares that we've seen in the last year. Even though the purchase was made at a significantly lower price than the recent price (AU$0.017), we still think insider buying is a positive. Because the shares were purchased at a lower price, this particular buy doesn't tell us much about how insiders feel about the current share price.

IXUP insiders may have bought shares in the last year, but they didn't sell any. The average buy price was around AU$0.022. I'd consider this a positive as it suggests insiders see value at around the current price. The chart below shows insider transactions (by companies and individuals) over the last year. Does IXUP Boast High Insider Ownership?

Looking at the total insider shareholdings in a company can help to inform your view of whether they are well aligned with common shareholders. I reckon it's a good sign if insiders own a significant number of shares in the company. Insiders own 11% of IXUP shares, worth about AU$2.4m, according to our data. But they may have an indirect interest through a corporate structure that we haven't picked up on. Overall, this level of ownership isn't that impressive, but it's certainly better than nothing!

So What Does This Data Suggest About IXUP Insiders?

It is good to see the recent insider purchase. And an analysis of the transactions over the last year also gives us confidence. But we don't feel the same about the fact the company is making losses. On this analysis the only slight negative we see is the fairly low (overall) insider ownership; their transactions suggest that they are quite positive on IXUP stock. So while it's helpful to know what insiders are doing in terms of buying or selling, it's also helpful to know the risks that a particular company is facing. Our analysis shows 6 warning signs for IXUP (3 don't sit too well with us!) and we strongly recommend you look at these before investing.
