A number of Privia Health Group, Inc. (NASDAQ:PRVA) insiders sold their shares in the last year, which may have raised concerns among investors. When analyzing insider transactions, it is usually more valuable to know whether insiders are buying versus knowing if they are selling, as the latter sends an ambiguous message. However, shareholders should take a deeper look if several insiders are selling stock over a specific time period.

Although we don't think shareholders should simply follow insider transactions, we do think it is perfectly logical to keep tabs on what insiders are doing.

Privia Health Group Insider Transactions Over The Last Year

Over the last year, we can see that the biggest insider sale was by the CEO & Director, Parth Mehrotra, for US$225k worth of shares, at about US$18.42 per share. So what is clear is that an insider saw fit to sell at around the current price of US$17.97. While we don't usually like to see insider selling, it's more concerning if the sales take place at a lower price. Given that the sale took place at around current prices, it makes us a little cautious but is hardly a major concern.

Another way to test the alignment between the leaders of a company and other shareholders is to look at how many shares they own. I like to see this level of insider ownership, because it increases the chances that management are thinking about the best interests of shareholders.
