Analysts Have Made A Financial Statement On Pentair plc's (NYSE:PNR) Yearly Report
Pentair plc (NYSE:PNR) shareholders are probably feeling a little disappointed, since its shares fell 4.7% to US$98.63 in the week after its latest annual results. Results were roughly in line with estimates, with revenues of US$4.1b and statutory earnings per share of US$3.74. This is an important time for investors, as they can track a company's performance in its report, look at what experts are forecasting for next year, and see if there has been any change to expectations for the business. So we collected the latest post-earnings statutory consensus estimates to see what could be in store for next year.

Taking into account the latest results, Pentair's 19 analysts currently expect revenues in 2025 to be US$4.16b, approximately in line with the last 12 months. Per-share earnings are expected to step up 20% to US$4.53. Before this earnings report, the analysts had been forecasting revenues of US$4.23b and earnings per share (EPS) of US$4.59 in 2025. The consensus analysts don't seem to have seen anything in these results that would have changed their view on the business, given there's been no major change to their estimates.
The analysts reconfirmed their price target of US$113, showing that the business is executing well and in line with expectations. That's not the only conclusion we can draw from this data however, as some investors also like to consider the spread in estimates when evaluating analyst price targets. The most optimistic Pentair analyst has a price target of US$125 per share, while the most pessimistic values it at US$91.00. This shows there is still a bit of diversity in estimates, but analysts don't appear to be totally split on the stock as though it might be a success or failure situation.
Of course, another way to look at these forecasts is to place them into context against the industry itself. It's pretty clear that there is an expectation that Pentair's revenue growth will slow down substantially, with revenues to the end of 2025 expected to display 1.8% growth on an annualised basis. This is compared to a historical growth rate of 7.8% over the past five years. By way of comparison, the other companies in this industry with analyst coverage are forecast to grow their revenue at 4.2% per year. Factoring in the forecast slowdown in growth, it seems obvious that Pentair is also expected to grow slower than other industry participants.
The Bottom Line
The most obvious conclusion is that there's been no major change in the business' prospects in recent times, with the analysts holding their earnings forecasts steady, in line with previous estimates. On the plus side, there were no major changes to revenue estimates; although forecasts imply they will perform worse than the wider industry. The consensus price target held steady at US$113, with the latest estimates not enough to have an impact on their price targets.
Keeping that in mind, we still think that the longer term trajectory of the business is much more important for investors to consider. At Simply Wall St, we have a full range of analyst estimates for Pentair going out to 2027, and you can see them free on our platform here..
