Although we don't think shareholders should simply follow insider transactions, logic dictates you should pay some attention to whether insiders are buying or selling shares.

Auction Technology Group Insider Transactions Over The Last Year

The Chief Operating Officer, Richard Lewis, made the biggest insider sale in the last 12 months. That single transaction was for UK£560k worth of shares at a price of UK£5.59 each. That means that an insider was selling shares at around the current price of UK£5.50. While insider selling is a negative, to us, it is more negative if the shares are sold at a lower price. We note that this sale took place at around the current price, so it isn't a major concern, though it's hardly a good sign. The only individual insider seller over the last year was Richard Lewis.

Insider Ownership

For a common shareholder, it is worth checking how many shares are held by company insiders. I reckon it's a good sign if insiders own a significant number of shares in the company. Auction Technology Group insiders own about UK£24m worth of shares. That equates to 3.7% of the company. This level of insider ownership is good but just short of being particularly stand-out. It certainly does suggest a reasonable degree of alignment.
