She served as Chief Executive Officer of Gulf Power and President of Gulf Power at Georgia Power Co. from April 2003 to December 2010. Ms. Story served as the President and Chief Executive Officer of Gulf Power Co., a subsidiary of Southern Company from 2003 to January 1, 2011. She served as Vice President of Corporate Services and Corporate Real Estate at Alabama Power from 1997 to 2000. Ms. Story has worked for Southern Company for 22 years in a number of capacities, beginning her career as a nuclear power plant engineer in 1982 and serving in various Managerial and officer positions, including Director of Human Resources, Vice President of Real Estate and Corporate Services, Vice-President of Supply Chain Management, Vice President of Procurement and Materials at SCS from 2000 to 2001 and Executive Vice-President of Engineering and Construction for Southern Company Generation and Energy Marketing from 2001 to 2003. She served as Senior Vice President of Southern Power Company from 2002 to 2003. Ms. Story was appointed by Governor Jeb Bush to the Florida BRAC Advisory Council where she serves as Chair of the Intra-State Activities Committee and to the Governor's Task Force on Healthcare Accessibility and Affordability. She also served on Lt. Governor Toni Jennings' Universal Pre-Kindergarten (UPK) Task Force. She served as a 33d 60th Fighter Squadron Honorary Commander for 2004. She served as Chairman of the Board at Florida Chamber of Commerce. She served as Vice Chairman of the Board of Enterprise Florida Inc. since 2005. She has been a Director of American Water Works Company, Inc. since May 9, 2014. She serves as the National Chair for the Center for Energy Workforce Development (CEWD), and is on the boards of the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) and the Alliance to Save Energy (ASE). While in Florida, she was appointed to the Federal Judiciary Nominating Commission, the Florida Base Realignment and Closure (BRAC) advisory council. She was a political appointment to the Florida Taxation and Budget Reform Commission, required by Florida law. In addition, she was appointed Chair of the Finance and Taxation Committee, which had responsibility for assessing the effects and appropriateness of financial structures of the state and its local governments. Ms. Story has received various awards and honors, including Sacred Heart Hospital's Presidential Achievement Award, the Women's Business Center's “Women Breaking the Corporate Glass Ceiling Award,” the Birmingham Business Journal's “Top 10 Women in Business” for 2002, the Girl Scout's “Woman of Distinction Award,” and the “Outstanding Engineering Alumnus” Award from the Auburn University College of Engineering. She has attended executive education programs at Duke University and Oxford University in England and completed international business studies at Cambridge University and leadership studies at Harvard. She has also completed Post-graduate Work in Financial Options and Derivatives at the University of Alabama and at the Birmingham School of Law focusing on torts and contracts. Ms. Story earned a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering from Auburn University and an MBA from the University of Alabama in Birmingham.

American Water Works Company, Inc., through its subsidiaries, provides water and wastewater services in the United States and Canada. It offers water and wastewater services to approximately 1,600 communities in 16 states serving approximately 3.4 million active customers. The company serves residential customers; commercial customers, such as food and beverage providers, commercial property developers and proprietors, and energy suppliers; fire service and private fire customers; industrial customers, such as large-scale manufacturers, mining, and production operations; public authorities comprising government buildings and other public sector facilities; and other utilities and community water and wastewater systems. It also provides various warranty protection programs to residential and smaller commercial customers; water and wastewater services on various military installations; and customized water transfer services for shale natural gas exploration and production companies. In addition, the company undertakes contracts with municipal, commercial, and industrial customers, primarily to operate and manage water and wastewater facilities, as well as offers other related services. It operates approximately 81 surface water treatment plants; 530 groundwater treatment plants; 10 combined treatment plants; 130 wastewater treatment plants; 51,000 miles of transmission, distribution, and collection mains and pipes; 1,000 groundwater wells; 1,400 water and wastewater pumping stations; 1,300 treated water storage facilities; and 80 dams.
