Have Insiders Been Buying Amkor Technology, Inc. (NASDAQ:AMKR) Shares This Year?

We often see insiders buying up shares in companies that perform well over the long term. The flip side of that is that there are more than a few examples of insiders dumping stock prior to a period of weak performance. So shareholders might well want to know whether insiders have been buying or selling shares in Amkor Technology, Inc. (NASDAQ:AMKR).

Do Insider Transactions Matter?

It is perfectly legal for company insiders, including board members, to buy and sell stock in a company. However, most countries require that the company discloses such transactions to the market.

Insider transactions are not the most important thing when it comes to long-term investing. But equally, we would consider it foolish to ignore insider transactions altogether. For example, a Harvard University study found that ‘insider purchases earn abnormal returns of more than 6% per year.’

Amkor Technology Insider Transactions Over The Last Year

Over the last year, we can see that the biggest insider purchase was by President Stephen Kelley for US$949k worth of shares, at about US$6.33 per share. So it’s clear an insider wanted to buy, at around the current price. While their view may have changed since the purchase was made, this does at least suggest they have had confidence in the company’s future. Nonetheless, we consider it positive if insiders want to buy at around the current share price. Stephen Kelley was the only individual insider to buy shares in the last twelve months.
