Mr. William F. Austen, also known as Bill, has been the Chief Executive Officer and President of Bemis Company, Inc. since August 7, 2014. Mr. Austen has been an Independent Director of Tennant Company since February 14, 2007. He served as the Chief Operating Officer and Executive Vice President of Bemis Company, Inc. since November 11, 2013 until August 2014. He served as Group President of Global Operations at Bemis Company, Inc. from 2012 to November 11, 2013. He served as Vice President of Operations at Bemis Company, Inc. since May 2004 until 2012. He served as the President and Chief Executive Officer of MACtac (trademark of Morgan Adhesives Company, a subsidiary of Bemis Co. Inc.) from 2000 to 2004. Mr. Austen was responsible for the pressure sensitive materials business subsidiary, known as MACtac and the paper packaging operations of Bemis. Prior to joining Bemis Company, he held leadership positions at various manufacturing operations of General Electric Company, where he worked for 20 years from 1980 to 2000 and served as General Manager of Global Switchgear Business. Mr. Austen has been a Director of Bemis Company, Inc. since 2014. He has been a Trustee of Manufacturers Alliance for Productivity and Innovation, Inc. since November 25, 2014. Mr. Austen holds a Bachelor of Engineering Degree in Marine Engineering from the State University of New York (SUNY) Maritime College and has Masters Degree in Engineering Administration from George Washington University. His qualifications are Mr. Austen has an intimate understanding of the Company’s business, operations and customers. His expertise in global manufacturing and operations, together with his experience in international mergers and acquisitions and business integration, contribute invaluable skills and capabilities to the Board.
