HighPeak Energy Insider Ups Holding During Year
From what we can see, insiders were net buyers in HighPeak Energy, Inc.'s (NASDAQ:HPK ) during the past 12 months. That is, insiders acquired the stock in greater numbers than they sold it.
While we would never suggest that investors should base their decisions solely on what the directors of a company have been doing, we would consider it foolish to ignore insider transactions altogether.
The Last 12 Months Of Insider Transactions At HighPeak Energy
Over the last year, we can see that the biggest insider purchase was by insider Jack Hightower for US$242k worth of shares, at about US$14.03 per share. That means that an insider was happy to buy shares at above the current price of US$6.93. It's very possible they regret the purchase, but it's more likely they are bullish about the company. In our view, the price an insider pays for shares is very important. Generally speaking, it catches our eye when an insider has purchased shares at above current prices, as it suggests they believed the shares were worth buying, even at a higher price. The only individual insider to buy over the last year was Jack Hightower.

Does HighPeak Energy Boast High Insider Ownership?
I like to look at how many shares insiders own in a company, to help inform my view of how aligned they are with insiders. Usually, the higher the insider ownership, the more likely it is that insiders will be incentivised to build the company for the long term. HighPeak Energy insiders own about US$118m worth of shares (which is 14% of the company). This kind of significant ownership by insiders does generally increase the chance that the company is run in the interest of all shareholders.
