Recent News & Updates
JQC: An Interesting Idea For Higher Rates
JQC ended its capital return program early, announcing a new managed distribution plan in September. The fund has sunk to a significant discount but rebounded quite quickly - though still trading at an appealing level. A word of caution would be the fund's distribution coverage is relatively weak, though it could improve with higher rates.
JQC: A High-Yielding Bond Fund With A Nice Discount
Investors continue to struggle with a marked inability to generate any significant income due to the longstanding policies of the Federal Reserve. JQC invests in a leveraged portfolio of high-yielding fixed-income securities to provide income to investors. The fund is reasonably well diversified and is positioned to capitalize on a rise in interest rates when it eventually occurs. The fund is adequately covering its distribution, although the steady decline that we have seen this year is rather off-putting. The fund is trading at a 6% discount, which is reasonable.
JQC: Beat The Fed With This High-Yield CEF
Investors needing income have had a very rough time over the past decade due to the policies of the Federal Reserve. JQC offers a roughly 10% yield using an interesting strategy based around adjustable rate loans. These loans are somewhat riskier than traditional fixed-income assets but the fund's very high level of diversification should be able to offset this. The fund's income should increase when interest rates do start to rise, likely in 2023, which could provide a boost to the distribution. The fund is easily able to cover the distributions that it pays out and is trading at a discount.
