Recent News & Updates
EDF: Moving From Sell To Hold After The Drawdown
EDF is down almost 20% on a price basis since our Sell rating article four months ago. The fund has experienced its second largest drawdown in the past decade. With a sub 5% Russia allocation the fund has not been steamrolled by the Ukraine crisis but its aggressive sub-investment grade portfolio has experienced a significant spread widening. In the middle of a historic emerging markets credit crisis we feel most of the downward move has been realized already.
EDF: 10.9% Yield From This EM Fund
With a 10.9% dividend yield, the fund is very appealing for income-oriented investors. The fund has a broad mandate being able to invest in both sovereign and corporate EM bonds in hard currency as well as local currency. The fund takes significant credit risk exposure with an overweight below investment grade portfolio and large Argentina concentration. EDF is highly cyclical with very deep corrections that can negate an entire decade of dividend distributions.
