Hubbell Incorporated Just Beat EPS By 14%: Here's What Analysts Think Will Happen Next

Hubbell Incorporated (NYSE:HUBB) came out with its quarterly results last week, and we wanted to see how the business is performing and what industry forecasters think of the company following this report. It looks like a credible result overall - although revenues of US$1.5b were in line with what the analysts predicted, Hubbell surprised by delivering a statutory profit of US$4.56 per share, a notable 14% above expectations. Earnings are an important time for investors, as they can track a company's performance, look at what the analysts are forecasting for next year, and see if there's been a change in sentiment towards the company. We thought readers would find it interesting to see the analysts latest (statutory) post-earnings forecasts for next year.

Following the latest results, Hubbell's twelve analysts are now forecasting revenues of US$5.86b in 2025. This would be a credible 4.2% improvement in revenue compared to the last 12 months. Per-share earnings are expected to increase 4.6% to US$16.32. In the lead-up to this report, the analysts had been modelling revenues of US$5.92b and earnings per share (EPS) of US$15.93 in 2025. The analysts seems to have become more bullish on the business, judging by their new earnings per share estimates.

The consensus price target rose 5.9% to US$453, suggesting that higher earnings estimates flow through to the stock's valuation as well. Fixating on a single price target can be unwise though, since the consensus target is effectively the average of analyst price targets. As a result, some investors like to look at the range of estimates to see if there are any diverging opinions on the company's valuation. Currently, the most bullish analyst values Hubbell at US$511 per share, while the most bearish prices it at US$383. Still, with such a tight range of estimates, it suggeststhe analysts have a pretty good idea of what they think the company is worth.

These estimates are interesting, but it can be useful to paint some more broad strokes when seeing how forecasts compare, both to the Hubbell's past performance and to peers in the same industry. The period to the end of 2025 brings more of the same, according to the analysts, with revenue forecast to display 8.5% growth on an annualised basis. That is in line with its 9.2% annual growth over the past five years. Juxtapose this against our data, which suggests that other companies (with analyst coverage) in the industry are forecast to see their revenues grow 9.2% per year. So although Hubbell is expected to maintain its revenue growth rate, it's only growing at about the rate of the wider industry.

The Bottom Line

The most important thing here is that the analysts upgraded their earnings per share estimates, suggesting that there has been a clear increase in optimism towards Hubbell following these results. Happily, there were no real changes to revenue forecasts, with the business still expected to grow in line with the overall industry. We note an upgrade to the price target, suggesting that the analysts believes the intrinsic value of the business is likely to improve over time.

Keeping that in mind, we still think that the longer term trajectory of the business is much more important for investors to consider. We have forecasts for Hubbell going out to 2027, and you can see them free on our platform here.
