Commercial Vehicle Group Insiders Still US$57k Away From Original Investment Value
Some of the losses seen by insiders who purchased US$138.9k worth of Commercial Vehicle Group, Inc. (NASDAQ:CVGI) shares over the past year were recovered after the stock increased by 16% over the past week. However, the purchase is proving to be an expensive wager as insiders are yet to get ahead of their losses which currently stand at US$57k since the time of purchase.
Although we don't think shareholders should simply follow insider transactions, logic dictates you should pay some attention to whether insiders are buying or selling shares.
Commercial Vehicle Group Insider Transactions Over The Last Year
In the last twelve months, the biggest single purchase by an insider was when Independent Director J. Nauman bought US$60k worth of shares at a price of US$2.42 per share. That means that even when the share price was higher than US$1.49 (the recent price), an insider wanted to purchase shares. Their view may have changed since then, but at least it shows they felt optimistic at the time. In our view, the price an insider pays for shares is very important. As a general rule, we feel more positive about a stock if insiders have bought shares at above current prices, because that suggests they viewed the stock as good value, even at a higher price.
While Commercial Vehicle Group insiders bought shares during the last year, they didn't sell. The chart below shows insider transactions (by companies and individuals) over the last year. By clicking on the graph below, you can see the precise details of each insider transaction!

Insider Ownership
Many investors like to check how much of a company is owned by insiders. I reckon it's a good sign if insiders own a significant number of shares in the company. Insiders own 9.8% of Commercial Vehicle Group shares, worth about US$4.7m, according to our data. Overall, this level of ownership isn't that impressive, but it's certainly better than nothing!
