28% Of This Veritex Holdings Insider's Holdings Were Sold
Insiders were net sellers of Veritex Holdings, Inc.'s (NASDAQ:VBTX ) stock during the past year. That is, insiders sold more stock than they bought.
While we would never suggest that investors should base their decisions solely on what the directors of a company have been doing, we would consider it foolish to ignore insider transactions altogether.
The Last 12 Months Of Insider Transactions At Veritex Holdings
The Independent Director, John Sughrue, made the biggest insider sale in the last 12 months. That single transaction was for US$732k worth of shares at a price of US$30.45 each. We generally don't like to see insider selling, but the lower the sale price, the more it concerns us. It's of some comfort that this sale was conducted at a price well above the current share price, which is US$27.38. So it may not tell us anything about how insiders feel about the current share price. John Sughrue was the only individual insider to sell over the last year.

Does Veritex Holdings Boast High Insider Ownership?
Another way to test the alignment between the leaders of a company and other shareholders is to look at how many shares they own. We usually like to see fairly high levels of insider ownership. It appears that Veritex Holdings insiders own 4.1% of the company, worth about US$60m. This level of insider ownership is good but just short of being particularly stand-out. It certainly does suggest a reasonable degree of alignment.
What Might The Insider Transactions At Veritex Holdings Tell Us?
