Independent Director of Plumas Bancorp Picks Up 54% More Stock
Even if it's not a huge purchase, we think it was good to see that Sushil Patel, the Independent Director of Plumas Bancorp (NASDAQ:PLBC) recently shelled out US$53k to buy stock, at US$41.16 per share. While that isn't the hugest buy, it actually boosted their shareholding by 54%, which is good to see.
Plumas Bancorp Insider Transactions Over The Last Year
In the last twelve months, the biggest single sale by an insider was when the insider, Jeffrey Moore, sold US$179k worth of shares at a price of US$42.71 per share. So what is clear is that an insider saw fit to sell at around the current price of US$40.01. While we don't usually like to see insider selling, it's more concerning if the sales take place at a lower price. We note that this sale took place at around the current price, so it isn't a major concern, though it's hardly a good sign.
Over the last year, we can see that insiders have bought 4.58k shares worth US$196k. But insiders sold 7.00k shares worth US$300k. Over the last year we saw more insider selling of Plumas Bancorp shares, than buying. You can see the insider transactions (by companies and individuals) over the last year depicted in the chart below. Does Plumas Bancorp Boast High Insider Ownership?
Many investors like to check how much of a company is owned by insiders. We usually like to see fairly high levels of insider ownership. It appears that Plumas Bancorp insiders own 7.4% of the company, worth about US$21m. We've certainly seen higher levels of insider ownership elsewhere, but these holdings are enough to suggest alignment between insiders and the other shareholders.
So What Does This Data Suggest About Plumas Bancorp Insiders?
It's certainly positive to see the recent insider purchases. But we can't say the same for the transactions over the last 12 months. We don't take much heart from transactions by Plumas Bancorp insiders over the last year. But they own a reasonable amount of the company, and there was some buying recently. So they seem pretty well aligned, overall. In addition to knowing about insider transactions going on, it's beneficial to identify the risks facing Plumas Bancorp.
