He served as President of the Bank from April 2010 until May 2018. He serves as Chief Executive Officer People's United Financial Inc. (“United Financial”) since May 2018 and serves as its Chairman of the Board since June 2018. He served as an Interim Chief Executive Officer and Interim President at People's United Financial since April 25, 2010 to July 22, 2010. He served as the Chief Administrative Officer and Senior Executive Vice President of People's United Financial from January 1, 2008 to April 25, 2010. He managed the Information Technology and Direct Banking and Operations divisions as well as Real Estate Services. He served as Chief Administrative Officer and Senior Executive Vice President of Bank. He served as an Executive Vice President of Chittenden Corp. and its subsidiary Chittenden Trust Company since 1990. He also served as an Executive Vice President, in charge of the newly formed Chittenden Services Group since 2002. He became Senior Vice President and Chief Credit Policy Officer in 1988. He also serves as the Chairman of The People’s United Community Foundation. He currently serves as a Member of the Board of Directors of the Financial Services Roundtable. He joined Chittenden Bank in 1983 as Manager of Loan Review after five years with the FDIC - Boston. In 1990, he was appointed as Division Head of the Credit Policy and Administration division, which grew to include various support services areas. He has been a Director of People's United Financial and Bank since July 22, 2010. He is a graduate of Northeastern University and received his MBA from the University of Vermont.

People's United Financial, Inc. operates as the bank holding company for People’s United Bank, National Association that provides commercial banking, retail banking, and wealth management services to individual, corporate, and municipal customers. The company operates in two segments, Commercial Banking and Retail Banking. The Commercial Banking segment offers commercial real estate lending, commercial and industrial lending, and commercial deposit gathering services. This segment also provides equipment financing; cash management, correspondent banking, and municipal banking services; and institutional trust, corporate trust, private banking, and commercial insurance services. The Retail Banking segment offers consumer lending, including residential mortgage and home equity lending; and consumer deposit gathering services. This segment also provides brokerage, financial advisory, investment management, life insurance, and non-institutional trust services. In addition, the company offers online banking, investment trading, and telephone banking services. It operates through a network of 422 branches in Connecticut, southeastern New York, Massachusetts, Vermont, Maine, and New Hampshire, as well as 607 ATMs. The company was founded in 1842 and is headquartered in Bridgeport, Connecticut.
