Systemair's (STO:SYSR) Shareholders Will Receive A Bigger Dividend Than Last Year
The board of Systemair AB (publ) (STO:SYSR) has announced that it will be paying its dividend of SEK1.35 on the 4th of September, an increased payment from last year's comparable dividend. This takes the annual payment to 1.4% of the current stock price, which is about average for the industry.
Systemair's Future Dividend Projections Appear Well Covered By Earnings
Unless the payments are sustainable, the dividend yield doesn't mean too much. Based on the last payment, Systemair was quite comfortably earning enough to cover the dividend. This indicates that quite a large proportion of earnings is being invested back into the business.
Looking forward, earnings per share is forecast to rise by 59.1% over the next year. If the dividend continues along recent trends, we estimate the payout ratio will be 29%, which is in the range that makes us comfortable with the sustainability of the dividend.

Dividend Volatility
While the company has been paying a dividend for a long time, it has cut the dividend at least once in the last 10 years. The dividend has gone from an annual total of SEK0.50 in 2015 to the most recent total annual payment of SEK1.35. This means that it has been growing its distributions at 10% per annum over that time. Dividends have grown rapidly over this time, but with cuts in the past we are not certain that this stock will be a reliable source of income in the future.
The Dividend Looks Likely To Grow
Given that the dividend has been cut in the past, we need to check if earnings are growing and if that might lead to stronger dividends in the future. Systemair has seen EPS rising for the last five years, at 12% per annum. Earnings are on the uptrend, and it is only paying a small portion of those earnings to shareholders.
We Really Like Systemair's Dividend
Overall, we think this could be an attractive income stock, and it is only getting better by paying a higher dividend this year. Earnings are easily covering distributions, and the company is generating plenty of cash. All of these factors considered, we think this has solid potential as a dividend stock.
Companies possessing a stable dividend policy will likely enjoy greater investor interest than those suffering from a more inconsistent approach. Still, investors need to consider a host of other factors, apart from dividend payments, when analysing a company. Earnings growth generally bodes well for the future value of company dividend payments.
