Onde's (WSE:OND) Shareholders Have More To Worry About Than Only Soft Earnings
Despite Onde S.A.'s (WSE:OND) recent earnings report having lackluster headline numbers, the market responded positively. We think that shareholders might be missing some concerning factors that our analysis found.
How Do Unusual Items Influence Profit?
For anyone who wants to understand Onde's profit beyond the statutory numbers, it's important to note that during the last twelve months statutory profit gained from zł21m worth of unusual items. We can't deny that higher profits generally leave us optimistic, but we'd prefer it if the profit were to be sustainable. When we crunched the numbers on thousands of publicly listed companies, we found that a boost from unusual items in a given year is often not repeated the next year. And that's as you'd expect, given these boosts are described as 'unusual'. We can see that Onde's positive unusual items were quite significant relative to its profit in the year to September 2025. All else being equal, this would likely have the effect of making the statutory profit a poor guide to underlying earnings power.

Our Take On Onde's Profit Performance
As we discussed above, we think the significant positive unusual item makes Onde's earnings a poor guide to its underlying profitability. As a result, we think it may well be the case that Onde's underlying earnings power is lower than its statutory profit. Nonetheless, it's still worth noting that its earnings per share have grown at 36% over the last three years. Of course, we've only just scratched the surface when it comes to analysing its earnings; one could also consider margins, forecast growth, and return on investment, among other factors. In light of this, if you'd like to do more analysis on the company, it's vital to be informed of the risks involved.
