Despite Enviro Infra Engineers' Pullback, Insiders Still Gained ₹3.6m

Enviro Infra Engineers Limited (NSE:EIEL) insiders who acquired shares over the previous 12 months, can probably afford to ignore the recent 10% decline in the stock price. Even after accounting for the recent loss, the ₹23.3m worth of stock purchased by them is now worth ₹26.9m or in other words, their investment continues to give good returns.

While we would never suggest that investors should base their decisions solely on what the directors of a company have been doing, we do think it is perfectly logical to keep tabs on what insiders are doing.

Enviro Infra Engineers Insider Transactions Over The Last Year

In the last twelve months, the biggest single purchase by an insider was when Chairman & Whole-Time Director Sanjay Jain bought ₹23m worth of shares at a price of ₹200 per share. Although we like to see insider buying, we note that this large purchase was at significantly below the recent price of ₹226. While it does suggest insiders consider the stock undervalued at lower prices, this transaction doesn't tell us much about what they think of current prices.

Another way to test the alignment between the leaders of a company and other shareholders is to look at how many shares they own. We usually like to see fairly high levels of insider ownership. Enviro Infra Engineers insiders own about ₹28b worth of shares (which is 72% of the company). I like to see this level of insider ownership, because it increases the chances that management are thinking about the best interests of shareholders.
