As Super Strong Holdings Limited (HKG:8262) drops to HK$190m market cap, insiders might rethink their HK$23m stock purchase earlier this year
- Published
- August 31, 2021
The recent price decline of 18% in Super Strong Holdings Limited's (HKG:8262) stock may have disappointed insiders who bought HK$23m worth of shares at an average price of HK$0.27 in the past 12 months. Insiders buy with the expectation to see their investments rise in value over a period of time. However, recent losses have rendered their above investment worth HK$20m which is not ideal.
While we would never suggest that investors should base their decisions solely on what the directors of a company have been doing, logic dictates you should pay some attention to whether insiders are buying or selling shares.

Super Strong Holdings Insider Transactions Over The Last Year
In the last twelve months, the biggest single purchase by an insider was when insider Xuzhan Ning bought HK$8.7m worth of shares at a price of HK$0.22 per share. That means that an insider was happy to buy shares at around the current price of HK$0.24. While their view may have changed since the purchase was made, this does at least suggest they have had confidence in the company's future. We do always like to see insider buying, but it is worth noting if those purchases were made at well below today's share price, as the discount to value may have narrowed with the rising price. The good news for Super Strong Holdings share holders is that an insider was buying at near the current price. Xuzhan Ning was the only individual insider to buy during the last year.
Xuzhan Ning purchased 84.04m shares over the year. The average price per share was HK$0.27. Does Super Strong Holdings Boast High Insider Ownership?
Another way to test the alignment between the leaders of a company and other shareholders is to look at how many shares they own. I reckon it's a good sign if insiders own a significant number of shares in the company. Super Strong Holdings insiders own about HK$159m worth of shares (which is 84% of the company). Most shareholders would be happy to see this sort of insider ownership, since it suggests that management incentives are well aligned with other shareholders.
