Every investor in LXI REIT plc (LON:LXI) should be aware of the most powerful shareholder groups. Generally speaking, as a company grows, institutions will increase their ownership. LXI REIT has a market capitalization of UK£687m, so we would expect some institutional investors to have noticed the stock. What Does The Institutional Ownership Tell Us About LXI REIT?

We can see that LXI REIT does have institutional investors; and they hold a good portion of the company's stock. We note that hedge funds don't have a meaningful investment in LXI REIT. Quilter Cheviot Limited is currently the company's largest shareholder with 5.7% of shares outstanding. With 5.5% and 5.0% of the shares outstanding respectively, BlackRock, Inc. and EFG Private Bank SA, Asset Management Arm are the second and third largest shareholders.

Researching institutional ownership is a good way to gauge and filter a stock's expected performance. The same can be achieved by studying analyst sentiments. There is a little analyst coverage of the stock, but not much. So there is room for it to gain more coverage.
Insider Ownership Of LXI REIT
The definition of company insiders can be subjective and does vary between jurisdictions. Our data reflects individual insiders, capturing board members at the very least. Management ultimately answers to the board. However, it is not uncommon for managers to be executive board members, especially if they are a founder or the CEO.
I generally consider insider ownership to be a good thing. However, on some occasions it makes it more difficult for other shareholders to hold the board accountable for decisions.
Our data suggests that insiders own under 1% of LXI REIT plc in their own names. We do note, however, it is possible insiders have an indirect interest through a private company or other corporate structure. It seems the board members have no more than UK£619k worth of shares in the UK£687m company. I generally like to see a board more invested. However it might be worth checking if those insiders have been buying.
General Public Ownership
With a 22% ownership, the general public have some degree of sway over LXI REIT. This size of ownership, while considerable, may not be enough to change company policy if the decision is not in sync with other large shareholders.
