CAR Group Sees Insider Stock Selling

Looking at CAR Group Limited's (ASX:CAR ) insider transactions over the last year, we can see that insiders were net sellers. That is, there were more number of shares sold by insiders than there were purchased.

Although we don't think shareholders should simply follow insider transactions, we would consider it foolish to ignore insider transactions altogether.

The Last 12 Months Of Insider Transactions At CAR Group

In the last twelve months, the biggest single sale by an insider was when the MD, CEO & Director, Cameron McIntyre, sold AU$1.9m worth of shares at a price of AU$36.64 per share. That means that even when the share price was slightly below the current price of AU$36.73, an insider wanted to cash in some shares. We generally consider it a negative if insiders have been selling, especially if they did so below the current price, because it implies that they considered a lower price to be reasonable. Please do note, however, that sellers may have a variety of reasons for selling, so we don't know for sure what they think of the stock price. This single sale was just 8.4% of Cameron McIntyre's stake. The only individual insider seller over the last year was Cameron McIntyre.

Happily, we note that in the last year insiders paid AU$370k for 10.04k shares. On the other hand they divested 50.61k shares, for AU$1.9m.
