He serves as a Member of the Advisory Board at WhereScape Inc. and Performance Lab Technologies Ltd. Mr. McCrae is a Member of the New Zealand Government's Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Taskforce, formed to identify ways to boost the sector's economic contribution. He was awarded the 2010 KEA World Class New Zealand, ICT award. Mr. McCrae received a Master's in Engineering Sciences and Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) from Auckland University in New Zealand.
