Lakes Blue Energy Insider Buyers Net AU$208k Despite 13% Stock Decline
Insiders who bought Lakes Blue Energy NL (ASX:LKO) in the last 12 months may probably not pay attention to the stock's recent 13% drop. Even after accounting for the recent loss, the AU$636.0k worth of stock purchased by them is now worth AU$843.8k or in other words, their investment continues to give good returns.
Although we don't think shareholders should simply follow insider transactions, we do think it is perfectly logical to keep tabs on what insiders are doing.
The Last 12 Months Of Insider Transactions At Lakes Blue Energy
Notably, that recent purchase by Roland Sleeman is the biggest insider purchase of Lakes Blue Energy shares that we've seen in the last year. Even though the purchase was made at a significantly lower price than the recent price (AU$0.99), we still think insider buying is a positive. Because it occurred at a lower valuation, it doesn't tell us much about whether insiders might find today's price attractive.

Insider Ownership
Many investors like to check how much of a company is owned by insiders. Usually, the higher the insider ownership, the more likely it is that insiders will be incentivised to build the company for the long term. From our data, it seems that Lakes Blue Energy insiders own 11% of the company, worth about AU$7.5m. But they may have an indirect interest through a corporate structure that we haven't picked up on. Whilst better than nothing, we're not overly impressed by these holdings.
So What Does This Data Suggest About Lakes Blue Energy Insiders?
It's certainly positive to see the recent insider purchases. And an analysis of the transactions over the last year also gives us confidence. But we don't feel the same about the fact the company is making losses. On this analysis the only slight negative we see is the fairly low (overall) insider ownership; their transactions suggest that they are quite positive on Lakes Blue Energy stock.
