Mr. Brian L. Protiva co-founded ADVA Optical Networking, Inc. (ADVA) in 1994 and has been Chief Executive Officer since 2001. Mr. Protiva is the Co-Founder of ADVA AG Optical Networking. Mr. Protiva serves as a Member of the Management Board at ADVA Optical Networking SE and has been Chief Executive Officer since May 2001. He served as Managing Director of ADVA AG Optical Networking until 1999 and then as its Co-Chief Executive Officer. As Co-Managing Director, Mr. Protiva initially focused on creating ADVA Optical Networking's marketing, sales and growth strategy and from 2000 to 2001, he held the title of Chief Strategy Officer, responsible for the areas of engineering, strategy, the acquisition of four companies and the integration of these engineering sites and product platforms. He joined AMS Electronic in 1987 and built AMS Electronic into a leading distributor of high-tech products and systems in Europe. Mr. Protiva served as Managing Director at AMS Technologies (now the EGORA Group), which he joined in 1987 and where he focused on co-managing its subsidiaries. Mr. Protiva serves as the Chairman of INNOBASE AG, Munich, Germany and Member of the Board of AMS Technologies AG, Munich, Germany. He served as Director of Alvarion Ltd. since September 2010 until October 9, 2011. Mr. Protiva holds B.S. in electrical engineering from Stanford University.

The company also provides disaggregated networking, such as packet optical terminals and ensemble connectors; timing and synchronization products; network infrastructure assurance products; and automated network management products, such as ensemble optical and sync director, and FSP network manager, as well as a Pro-Vision orchestration and service management platform. In addition, it provides professional services to plan, operate, and maintain the networks. The company sells its products to telecommunications service providers, private companies, universities, and government agencies directly, as well as through a network of distribution partners.
