Austin is a rare breed of investor. He has certainly taken a page out of Warren Buffett’s ‘punch card’ philosophy with his investment strategy – at any time, he will never hold more than 10 companies in his portfolio. He says that if he lets himself hold more companies, he’ll be more inclined to make some speculative investments.

He says “forcing yourself to hold a small number of companies means that you’re going to research the hell out of that company before you make that buying decision’.
