Currently Hiring:
Product Designer

Competitive Salary Equity Full-Time Sydney, Australia

About us:

Simply Wall St is looking for a Product Designer to help us build a revolutionary product which transforms the way everyday people around the world invest, through empowering them to understand complicated financial data and make better, non-emotional decisions.

We are building a world-class product innovative in many ways – unique data visualizations, making complex and complicated things simple and replacing work previously done by humans. We are solving a very interesting problem in a very underserved space; the average retail investor massively underperforms the market but they really wouldn't have to.

This is an opportunity to work at a well-funded, fast-growing Fintech startup with a global impact that is still in its early stage. We have more than tripled the number of users during the last 6 months to over 500,000 but the team is still very small and you will have a big impact on how our product works and feels.

Your role:

From helping us understand user needs and translate these insights into product concepts, user journeys and design mock-ups to creating beautiful and inspiring pixel-perfect interfaces across web and mobile, you will be involved in the product cycle from the very start till the very end and will exercise your full range of product, interaction, and visual design skills every day.

You will be working in small teams, closely with the founders and will see the results of your work turned into products and used by hundreds of thousands of investors on a weekly basis. You will be in a direct contact with the users and be learning quickly through the immediate feedback.

We are setting up a design system, which you'll be responsible for managing and maintaining as the product team grows.

Who are you?

  • You are a strong generalist and understand that the core user experience is not a set of features; it is the job users hire the product for;
  • You enjoy doing user interviews and understand the importance of user validation for both product ideas and designs
  • You’re diligent in your post launch routine and care about delivering products that actually solve problems as opposed to just “shipping features”
  • You have passion for turning complex matters into easy to understand, and have a deep understanding of web and mobile application UX/UI patters
  • You have some experience with stock investing or are interested in it and willing to learn fast (we can help)
  • You care about crafting user-centred designs that are beautiful, delightful, and easy-to-use
  • You are an excellent communicator, self-starter, and enjoy collaboration with others as you will be working closely with the whole team
  • What we would like to see from you:

  • Confidence in creating UX work-flows, wireframes and high-fidelity interactive prototypes
  • Understanding of modern front-end technologies (at bare minimum to be able to understand engineering constraints)
  • Ability to conduct user research focusing on product discovery, solution validation and usability
  • Portfolio showing experience with shipping interactive digital products and demonstrating your product thinking

    How to apply

Take some time to explore our product. Apply at steve(at)simplywallst.com with relevant work samples (portfolio) and a short document (max one page) focusing on one functionality or interface of our platform that from your perspective as a user isn't delivered well. Tell us why you think it is not working well and how would you improve it.

You can present your idea in any textual or visual format you feel comfortable with, but don't worry we are not looking for finished designs. If we think you’ll be a good fit, we’ll be back in touch shortly.
